Federal Court of Appeals Sides With the Wild Horses « Straight from the Horse's Heart

SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 14, 2012) – The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today handed an important Valentine’s Day victory to wild horse journalist Laura Leigh, supported by the Wild Horse Freedom Federation, in her important First Amendment battle with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), over the BLM’s limitation on observation and access to the facts of brutal roundups of wild horses across the West. Leigh alleged the BLM illegally restricted her ability to document the roundups, based on their concerns about the disclosure of pictures of the inhumane treatment perpetrated on the wild horses, treatment the BLM does not want made public.
