Wyoming Horse Slaughter Plant NOT Plausible « Straight from the Horse's Heart

Chicago (EWA) – In a detailed article published in Horseback Magazine titled Numbers won’t work in proposed processing plant, EWA president John Holland lays out the reasons that a much hyped horse slaughter plant proposed for Wyoming is in fact not going to become a reality any time soon.

Habitat for Horses Helps Struggling Texans Keep Their Horses at Home « Straight from the Horse's Heart

I can get by with a little help from my friends…” In the middle of a financial crunch, the difference between a horse staying with the family that loves them or having to send the horse off to a rescue, or worse, sending it to auction, is often a matter of needing just a few more dollars. When the choice comes down to either buying hay and feed or feeding the family and putting gas in the truck, the horse suffers.

Numbers Won’t Work in Proposed Processing Plant, EWA President Says « Straight from the Horse's Heart

CHICAGO, (EWA) – Newsweek recently carried the condensed version of an article by Sue Wallis, a Wyoming State representative, titled Wyoming proceeds with plans to build state-of-the-art processing plant. The article gives the impression that Wyoming is about to open a horse slaughter plant. It is not and here is why.

The “plans” are not those of the state of Wyoming, but of horse slaughter proponent Sue Wallis. The Wallis business strategy appears to be “If you hype it, they will come.”

PINE NUT RANGE, Nevada – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is breaking up natural horse family groups again, this time in the Dayton area of the Pine Nut Range of northwestern Nevada. More shamelessly they have removed foals from there dams and shipped of the young to a holding area called the Palomino Valley facility where they have been thrown in with the general population. This all done while they hoped we were watching football and eating turkey so no one might notice, except GrassRootsHorse’s Laura Leigh.

For the purpose of security and for the element of surprise it is rare that I disclose the actual geographical location of my person. The requirement of the income stream that pumps the life blood into my family’s survival and funds the message of the horses regularly sends me to the four corner of the world for extended periods of time. For many years the continent of Africa was my home away from home but by the luck of the draw I now find myself behind the great wall of China, or should I rephrase that to say the great ‘Firewall’ of China.

A finely tuned spam filter diverted the post and emailed it to this reporter’s attention, as the blog’s admin, for moderation and approval. Unbeknownst to the BLM Cyber-Bully was the fact that we record IP addresses and the address verified that the threatening message came directly from a government BLM computer DURING normal office hours.

Almost on a daily basis we are pummeled with the gory violence and unneeded bloodshed doled out by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) upon our few remaining iconic wild horses. It appears that the first email address or handle that a BLM employee will, voluntarily, give him/herself is ANIMAL ABUSER.

Over the past few years we have become increasingly concerned about the tactics the BLM is using to round up the wild horses. We decided to launch an investigation into the round ups and organized a team of investigators to go to Burns Oregon to do three days of observation of the Warm Springs Herd and the Warm Springs Round up on November 6th. We teamed up with experienced wild horse observer Leslie Peeples to guide us on this western tour.

Why We Live With Horses « Straight from the Horse's Heart

Why We Live With Horses « Straight from the Horse's Heart

There are many blessings that greet us when we first open our eyes at the beginning of a new day. One of the first positives, to consider, is the fact that our eyes have actually opened and that we have another period of wakening before us where we can make a difference and excel in any endeavor that we are either tasked or decide to accomplish. That is always an uplifting thought and I attempt to remember, every morning, to thank all that is good in the universe for allowing me another opportunity to improve myself and, hopefully, the world around me. Such feelings are particularly sweet when I am home from my travels and know that I will be spending the day with my wife, on our farm surrounded by the four legged creatures that we love and who love us in return. (Actually, that feeling of love and home is extended to our wild kids too; the deer, squirrels, birds, fish and even the coyotes but I have yet to become enamored with the wild hogs…that will take some doing.) And although everyday is special in its own right there are a few that just jump out there and shine brighter than others and I had the wonderful experience of enjoying just such a morning while I was last home.

Slaughterhouse Sue’s Big Fat ‘F”arce « Straight from the Horse's Heart

Although Wyoming has at least one ethics law concerning its legislators, nobody seems to have gotten around to enforcing that pesky thing. Sue Wallis (“Slaughterhouse Sue”) hasn’t even bothered with a revolving door – she has just parked her butt in two different chairs at the same time – as a Wyoming State Representative (R) and also as the Executive Director of a trade/lobbying “mutual benefit corporation” called United Organizations of the Horse (UOH). UOH states it is concerned with “excess” and “unwanted horses” and claims that’s the reason it’s pushing so hard to reinstate horse slaughterhouses in the United States.
