EU Will Not Accept Imported United States Horse Meat | Straight from the Horse's Heart

EU Will Not Accept Imported United States Horse Meat | Straight from the Horse's Heart

Just a week ago Petside featured an article about the high probability of horse slaughter facilities soon opening in the United States to produce meat for human consumption.

In 2006 Congress defunded USDA horse and horse meat inspection, closing the doors of the three remaining foreign-owned slaughter plants producing meat for human consumption which was exported to Europe and other countries outside the United States. However, in 2011, Congress stripped the defunding language for USDA horse and horse meat inspection, leaving the doors wide open for slaughter facilities in the United States to start killing horses for their meat for humans.

“Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis: The Equine Advocate’s Gift that Keeps on Giving | Straight from the Horse's Heart

If the sane and compassionate members of our society could have picked a perfect poster child to represent the reprehensible, predatory business of corrupt horse slaughter they couldn’t have chosen a better candidate than the non-degreed, uncredentialed, self-appointed leader of a dozen whacked out horse-eaters…Wyoming State Rep. “Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis; the broken and scratched record that just keeps on ticking right on into the twilight zone.

Horse-Slaughter Advocate’s Video Spurrs Investigation | Straight from the Horse's Heart

Horse-Slaughter Advocate’s Video Spurrs Investigation | Straight from the Horse's Heart

An employee of a New Mexico company that has sparked outrage for its plans to slaughter horses is being investigated for animal cruelty in connection with a video in which he taunts animal welfare advocates while killing a horse.

Tim Sappington, 54, may face charges over the video, said Bobby Pierce, the deputy director of the New Mexico Livestock Board, an Albuquerque-based law enforcement agency. Sappington is the only employee of Valley Meat Co. near Roswell, which is seeking to become the first company to run a horse-slaughter plant in the U.S. since 2007.

Many of us have already viewed a video posted on Youtube, seemingly by Tim Sappington, who is employed by the Valley Meat Company in Roswell, New Mexico…(which is attempting to become one of the first horse slaughter plants to re-open in the U.S. since 2007), which captures an act that should bring shame to the cities of Roswell (where Tim Sappington works) and Dexter (where Tim Sappington seems to reside) and to the state of New Mexico.

Howdy Troops, great things are popping and they are happening fast; the EU will refuse U.S. horse meat, the Obama Administration plans on putting horse slaughter plant inspection defunding language back in the Ag Appropriation Bill, an Ag Secretary that does NOT like the idea of Horse Slaughter one bit and of course, bringing up the rear (with a very large one I might add) is the public meltdown of the perverse and profane abomination that is a blight on the not only the state of Wyoming, the United States, Womanhood but Homo sapiens overall…State Rep. “Slaughterhouse” Sue Wallis.

US Horsemeat Banned in EU | Straight from the Horse's Heart

US Horsemeat Banned in EU | Straight from the Horse's Heart

Chicago (EWA) – Since Congress lifted the ban on USDA inspections of horse meat, several small shuttered cattle slaughter plants have clamored for the USDA to provide horse meat inspections. Ricardo De Los Santos of Valley Meats, a New Mexico plant, went as far as to sue the USDA for not providing the service. The attorney for Valley Meats has announced it will be opening in three weeks.

Unfortunately for those wishing to bring horse slaughter back to the US, they will have to do so without the ability to sell to the EU, the main market for US horse meat. The Equine Welfare Alliance has received confirmation from EU authorities that “by virtue of Commission decision 2011/163/EU the US is not authorized to export horsemeat to the EU.”

Toxins Sweepin’ Down the Plains | Straight from the Horse's Heart

Nothing is sweeter than having the darkside validate what we have been saying for years. I came across an article yesterday that was regarding the conflict of interest with Skye O’Niel in Oklahoma. The opening paragraph is something everyone should send to the USDA, your legislators and any contacts you have outside our borders to make sure the EU and consumers hear this loud and clear.
“Rep. Skye McNiel said that gain would be shared equally by all the state’s horse auctioneers and is not substantial compared to the financial gain to the state’s horse owners who are seeking an avenue to dispose of animals that have lost their use.”

Humane Society- Oklahoma Horse Slaughter Bill a Grizzly Crutch | Straight from the Horse's Heart

A Pittsburg County farmers and ranchers union recently lobbied for equine processing legislation that passed a Senate committee unopposed on Monday.

Although the legislation passed the Senate committee, animal rights activists such as the Humane Society of the United States say the bill legalizing horse slaughter in Oklahoma is nothing more than a “grizzly crutch.”

Equine Advocacy Groups Expose Gross Gap in U.S. Border Horse Slaughter Inspections | Straight from the Horse's Heart

Equine Advocacy Groups Expose Gross Gap in U.S. Border Horse Slaughter Inspections | Straight from the Horse's Heart

This is a result of a FOIA request on inspections at the Mexico border pens. We are all sickened by the lack of inspections, enforcement and what American horses endure in the slaughter pipeline. A total of only 199 inspections took place during 2010, 2011 & 2012.
Our thanks to our investigators for their diligence and determination in exposing the inexcusable conditions and treatment of American horses. We wish the horse owners could see what road they have chosen for their horses. The photo of the mare and her foal is heartbreaking.
USDA Response - please note this file is 20MB and will take a few moments to load
We encourage everyone to call their legislators and demand passage of the S.A.F.E act to end this now.

Straight from the Horse's Heart | A Spiritual Ride through Love, Loss and Hope

Straight from the Horse's Heart | A Spiritual Ride through Love, Loss and Hope

Action Needed:  Call and email your U.S. senators and representative in Washington, D.C., today to ask them to cosponsor the SAFE Act. Please thank them if they are already cosponsors!
Recent revelations that horse meat accidentally entered the food chain overseas have put a media spotlight on the issue of horse slaughter. It seems that horse slaughterers are incapable of preventing horse meat from mingling with their other products. If it can happen there, it can happen here. We’re happy to tell you that Congress is responding.

While World Reels From Horse Meat Scandal US Agencies Asleep at the Wheel | Straight from the Horse's Heart

“There is actually TOO MUCH to single out a single article on the scandalous Horse Meat/Slaughter Issue hitting the wire these days.  While the good ole boys in Oklahoma try to ram horse slaughter down the throats of their constituents the USDA considers allowing tainted horse slaughter plants when they are talking about cutting back inspectors.  Does any of this make sense, of course not.  Inserted below is just ONE DAY’s worth of news alerts on the issue from Google which clearly indicates that neither the USDA or the fools in Oklahoma’s capitol can read!!!” ~ R.T.

Breaking News: FRER Discovers New Applications for Horse Slaughter Facilities | Straight from the Horse's Heart

LARKSPUR, COLORADO – Front Range Equine Rescue (FRER) has received copies of four previously undiscovered applications for new horse slaughter plants – in Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma and Iowa – bringing the number of pending applications to six.  Two of the applications are over nine months old, despite longstanding official denials about any more new applications.  The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which inspects animals and meat in American slaughterhouses under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has stated that the American beef supply is safe from adulteration with horse meat only because horses are not slaughtered in America.  If horse slaughter does begin again in America, the entire American meat supply is threatened with contamination.  The proposed plants are in Tennessee, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Missouri.

Fitch, president of WHFF, teamed up to begin a monitoring program of processed frozen foods that have ties to overseas markets.

Equine Advocates Take On BLM Wild Horse and Slaughter Issues in Oklahoma City | Straight from the Horse's Heart

Spurred by angst over the continued waste of federal funds on a failed Bureau of Land Management (BLM) agenda of illegally removing native wild horses and burros from public lands and the state of Oklahoma’s newly acquired blood lust for slaughtering America’s horses several equine welfare groups, and their members, will be staging a press conference and rally in opposition to the BLM’s Advisory board meeting to be held on March 4th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
